Welcome Message from Organising Chairman
On behalf of the 1st Global Orthokeratology & Myopia Control Conference (GOMCC 2018) Organising Committee, I am truly honoured and delighted to have this opportunity to invite delegates from all around the world to attend this conference. It gives me great pleasure and privilege to serve as the Organising Chairman for this inaugural event.
GOMCC 2018 is probably the first international conference to be held in Malaysia which focuses on Orthokeratology & Myopia Control. The prevalence of Myopia among the younger population is increasing rapidly especially among the East Asian countries. As an optometrist and primary eye care practitioner, we should be able to provide various solutions to help them control myopia from progressing rapidly. Hence, this conference is so important as optometrists in this region will have the opportunity to learn from many invited distinguished experts from overseas, who are willing to share their knowledge and expertise in this fields.
The two-day conference consists of plenary sessions, industrial sessions, workshops and exhibition. Worldwide renowned speakers will present high quality evidence based scientific program during the plenary sessions whereas the industrial sessions will cover all the latest innovations and new technology in various lens design in corneal reshaping as well as specialty lenses. We also allocate many workshops sessions. Some of them are catered for beginners where they may learn fundamental orthokeratology procedures and practical instruments. The more experienced delegates can opt to attend more advanced lens designs and its related problem solving. We would also like to encourage delegates to take time to visit the exhibition booths from our sponsors to obtain the latest information in lens designs and instruments.
Special thanks goes to our sponsors for their support. The conference would not be possible without them.
Throughout this conference, we encourage every one of you to stay engaged, be proactive and let’s work together to shape the future of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control in this region.
We look forward to meeting you in the upcoming event and welcoming you to Malaysia!
