CERTIFICATE TO THE REGISTERED PRIVATE OPTOMETRY
PRACTITIONERS (OPTOMETRISTS AND OPTICIANS) IN MALAYSIA
1. BACKGROUND
Malaysian Optical Council (MOC) was established on the 1st
February 1992 with the
purpose of registering optometrists-and opticians and to regulate
the practice of
optometry in this country through the implementation of all
provisions under the Optical
Act 1991 and Optical Regulations 1994. Beside than the Act
and the Regulations, an
optometry practitioner in Malaysia is expected to adhere to
the Code of Practice with the
general aim of promoting high standards of professional conduct
and continual education.
Malaysian Optical Council is a body corporate with perpetual
succession and a common
seal and which may sue and be sued in its name. Its member
consists of;
1) Designated member:
a) Director General of Health as Chairman
Y. Bhg. Datuk Dr. Hj Mohd. Ismail bin Merican
b) Deputy Director General of Health (Medical) as Deputy
Chairman
Y. Bhg. Datuk Dr. Hj Abdul Gani bin Mohammed Din
2) Appointed member by the Minister of Health, resident of
Malaysia:
a) Two Ophthalmologists, one from public sector
i) Dr. Mariam Bee binti M. A. Ismail (public)
ii) Dr. Pall Singh (private) |
