3. There have been quite a number
of bogus optometry
practitioners who are not qualified to practice thus unregistered
with the Malaysian Optical Council practicing illegally in Malaysia.
The objectives of the PNC are:
1. To inform the public on-how to differentiate
between the registered
optometry practitioner and the non-registered so that the
public will
get the optometric service from the qualified, competent and
professional eye care provider.
2. To inform the public on how to differentiate between the
optometry
practitioners which has been allowed to practice contact lens
(contact
lens practitioners) and the one which has not been allowed
to
practice.
3. To minimize and control the unqualified and non-registered
optometry
practitioners (bogus).
4. To create awareness of the important of comprehensive
eye
examination before and after wearing the contact lens and
a regular-
eye check up with the approved contact lens practitioner.
